WINE&ART
WINE&ART
The culture of wine in Europe dates back to the era of ancient Greece, where wine was praised by poets, philosophers and artists. Theater itself originates in the festivals that honoured Dionysus, the god of wine, who represented not only the inebriating power of wine, but also its social virtue. Our dream for Valdisole is to become a place where wine and art meet! Starting from uniquely crafted labels reserved to our limited edition wines, to extend to photography, sculpture, and painting events that animate our vineyards.

SCULPTOR AMALIA DE BERNARDIS
AURA or "in the beginning there was the sea"
Corneliano d'Alba was originally submerged by marine waters, so much so that even today a sandy and golden soil defines its particularity. Paying attention to the soil you can still find shells and marine fossils, while on particularly clear days you can feel "a strange breeze" that does not belong to the hilly landscapes of Piedmont. It is not hazardous to say that Roero is a world apart. The white muscat, gentle and suggestive, naturally reminded me this light breeze, this enchanted trail, this potential creation of cliff mirages. Aura is a choice of recondite purity and ancient elegance. The conjugation between past and present, between fairytale and reality, between dream and desire has suggested this name, not by chance feminine. Aura recalls a forgotten perfume, a soft trail that makes, for a moment, close the eyes and open the senses of smell, taste and...of touch. In fact, even the bottle becomes "sculpture" that contains memories and opens up a new possibility, that is to be able to see and feel the vineyard and the territory in its entirety. The collected sand, at the feet of the vines, is handcrafted and manually worked, kneaded and poured entirely on the glass, creating always different shapes (each bottle is different), the name, which sometimes leans like an imprint sometimes as engraving tells of the passage of the man who does not invade, but collects, tells, transforms and borrows. There is therefore no label, there is the essence of a label.

ARKÈ or "the principle"
What is water for Thales, the fire for Heraclitus, the atom for Democritus, the vine leaf is for the winemaker; the material at the foundation, basic component of things. Arkè arises from this thought. It is a eulogy to the blooming, to the luxuriant life, to the abundant origin, but it is also an accent on the cycles and on the incessant transformation of the natural thing. The leaf, harvested in splendid shape, is not separated from the final product (that is from the wine), and while it changes, she, tells the seasons outside, on the bottle that contains it, narrating this passing and this change. It is organic and alive, in fact it is yellow, dry, it crumbles. It is not a photograph of the vineyard and of life, it is the reality of the vineyard and of life. And in this today, in which so much is told about the territory "as it is", to make such a poetic and radical choice, abandoning the aesthetic claustrophobia of the label, seemed an interesting way to tell another kind of origin. The wine that bears this name, does exactly the same thing, flips a concept. Arneis or arnese, the peasant vine, relegated to the lower part of the pyramid, is rethought, cuddled, exalted and treated as in most important principles.
After all, let us ask ourselves, what does a man do if he stops looking for other solutions and if he always looks at everything from a single point of view?

Originally from Patagonia, created for us a series of unique necklesses, which we use as labels of our most unique magnum bottles. Each one is unique. All tell a common story. Daniel collects pieces of wood, precious and semi-precious stones from his journeys around the world to create art. Each neckless brings a piece of Patagonia, of Europe, of Asia, or perhaps even Africa in one. One earth, one humanity, one piece of art. Choose your own!
